Careers In Education
Careers in Education

The Careers in Education Committee was set up in 2005 to help promote teaching as a career. The Board recognised the ongoing shortage of teachers and therefore appointed a committee to find ways of encouraging both recent Yr 12 graduates and mature-age students to consider entering into the teaching profession.

The Committee's main focus is:

  • Raising the profile of the teaching profession in our community
  • Raising the profile of the career itself as a possible career path and assisting student teachers in their studies via mentoring etc.
  • Promoting teaching as a career for mature age students

The committe therefore also aims to support those who are currently going through uni.

The committee consists of:

   Jacques Kortenoeven (FRSA Administration Manager)

Roslyn van Dyke (FRSA Administrative Secretary)

Tim deVos (Kelmscott John Calvin School Principal)

   Jan Kampman (FRSA/Council Member)

   Jeanette Janssen (JCCC Teacher)

Any of the committee members would be happy to speak to you anytime about careers in education. Or you can email - careers@frsa.asn.au with any questions

Teaching in Tassie 2012
Morning Tea - Monday, April 30, 2012

The CIE hosted a morning tea to announce the winners of the 2012 Teaching in Tassie program.  CIE invited the applicants, JCCC Teachers and the Chairman of the Board Mr S Terpstra to attend the event.  Mr Terpstra sent in his apologies and wished the two students God's blessings with all the preparations for their trip to Tasmania.  The CIE Chairman, Jacques Kortenoeven, explained the process of the judging to the students.

After a short presentation, the successful applicants were announced.  The winners of the 2012 Teaching in Tassie program are.....Joshua deVos (Yr10) and Jessica Lewis (Yr11).  Congratulations to both Joshua and Jessica!!  The winners were presented with a certificate of achievement and the other applicants received a certificate of recognition for their applications.  Well done to all the students who applied....

As in previous years Joshua and Jessica will be flying to Tassie to visit the Launceston John Calvin School for a week.  During their week they will be able to experience seeing another JCS from a teacher's perspective.  While in Tassie  the winners  will be keeping a 'blog' and photos of their journeys and activities.  We are looking forward to hearing about your experience Joshua and Jessica.
