I had another excursion on Thursday with the year 2s but this one was about the history of Albany. We visited the Old Strawberry Hill Farm, the old Albany cemetery and the Middleton Beach Jetty. At the beginning of the day we started off with devotions and listened to a Bible story. Then we split off into three groups and left for our first stop, the strawberry farm. There we met a man and he introduced himself and we got straight into learning about games from 'the old days'.
Then while one half of the group played the games the other half took a tour of the old farm house. then after 15 minutes we had morning tea and swapped.
When it was almost time for lunch we left for a park and had our lunches and then we played on the playground. After awhile we left to go to the old cemetery and did some school work like finding the oldest grave and the youngest buried person in the whole cemetery. Wednesday started off with singing again and then we split off into groups and left school for a bird watching and other animal ‘watching’ excursion. I had a small group of three. First of all we went to Mrs vander Heide’s auntie’s house she had a load of canaries and she also had a pink and grey galah that said ‘hello’ to all the kids. She also had a small dog inside which the kids adored as they had fruit time inside.
