The overall budget received from the Australian Government is $3,100,000, which sounds like a lot of money and it is!! To build facilities for three new Libraries and Multi-Purpose Halls will require a lot of finances, time and effort. With teh government funding we will be able to build three basic buildings. However, certain items have been deleted from the initial contract so that the project will remain within budget.
Examples of some of the items removed from the budget are:
- Footpath between the School & MPH (RJCS & BJCS)
- Sports equipment & score boards (all schools)
- Retaining wall (RJCS)
- Air-condititioning (all schools)
- Furniture in Libraries (all schools)
Whilst these items aren't essential it would be nice to incorporate them from the begining of the building. For example, the retaining wall in RJCS gives us the possibility to build the oval against the Hall, instead of taking off a strip from the oval. If the retaining wall is built at a later date the cost of construction will have increased.
We hope the members of the Association will see the need to support these projects and take some ownership of the buildings, which will be possible through donating time, labour, materials and financial gifts.
If you would like to do so, please contact your local building committee member or the builder, Alistair Kleyn on 9498 1766 or ali@alitaconstructions.com.au
